Hello wonderful, gorgeous brides! Today is the day that I post my very first tutorial to inspire you and I couldn’t be happier!
When I got married, I searched for affordable wedding earrings to compliment my dress. After searching three bridal shops in the area, along with Dillard’s and Macy’s, I was lucky to find an amazing pair of earrings on sale. I thought to myself recently, what if there was a bride that couldn’t find a steal or a perfect timing sale like I did? I mean, what if a bride’s budget simply did not allow her to buy the earrings she likes to compliment her dress? The DIY bride inside me says teach brides how to make them! Why pay $100 or more for earrings at a bridal shop, when you can make them yourself for under $16 per pair? Plus, what better way to make your wedding earrings than from super glam buttons? The bright side about these gorgeous earrings is that they are suitable for you and your bridesmaids to wear for any occasion.
This super easy tutorial is packed with step-by-step pictures that will guide you through how to make your own DIY wedding earrings. This tutorial is even super easy for my not so crafty brides (I got you girl). Look at these beauties. They’re just ready for you to make them wedding ready!
- A clean work space. Tip: lay out some newspaper or a cheap white poster board.
- Pearl or rhinestone buttons of your choice. Tip: I got mine from Hobby Lobby for $3.99
- 2 flat pad earring posts –Tip: These are at Joann Fabrics for $1.99/pack
- 2 earring backs- Tip: These are at Joann Fabrics for $1.99/pack (you get a lot)
- 6 1/2 inch floral wire cutters –Tip: You can get these from Walmart for $6.19
- Clear E6000 craft adhesive glue-Tip: This glue can be found at any craft store. I found a small tube for $1.75 at Walmart
Step 1 > Lay out all of your supplies and make sure you have everything you need before beginning the assembly of your earrings.
Step 2 > Remove your buttons from the packaging, flip them over, and prepare to cut away the metal loop with your floral wire cutters.
Step 3 > Cut the metal loop from the base with your wire cutters. Be sure to cut away enough of the base so that you create a flat surface for the posts to lay as flat as possible.
Step 4 > With a flat base, squeeze an adequate amount of E6000 glue in the center of your button where you just cut away the loop. Tip: adequate amount of glue = slightly smaller than the size of a pea
Step 5 > Place the flat pad post directly on top of the glue. Make sure that the post is centered on the button.
Repeat the previous steps on your other button. Let your earrings dry over night. Be sure not to place the earring backs on your earrings before they are completely dry.
Now you have some pretty banging earrings for your super awesome wedding day!
I hope this tutorial inspired you to make some gorgeous DIY wedding earrings for yourself or your bridesmaids. I am happy to answer any questions you have regarding the tutorial. I wish you peace, love, and happy planning.
